Brookwood Admissions

Grade 6

As the transition grade into our Upper School, Grade 6 sustains an atmosphere in which students feel encouraged to venture out on new and different "intellectual limbs." Headed by a core team of teachers, the sixth grade experience promotes learning by doing, encouraging students to continue to learn how to learn from their mistakes as well as their successes. Skill acquisition continues in all disciplines while opportunities for in-depth, hands-on learning become more complex and sophisticated. In addition to the challenging academic environment, students participate in the Advisor Program which provides students with a consistent small group in which to address issues and objectives of the Personal Growth and Development program. The emphasis placed on self-assessment and resource utilization provides sixth graders with a foundation of organization and study skills that enables students to be productive in the Upper School.
