Kindergarten

The Kindergarten year brings with it new and exciting academic and personal growth opportunities. Embracing the belief that how children feel affects how they learn, faculty focus on nourishing each child's developmental progress. Our language arts program includes Fundations, a systematic, multisensory approach to sound mastery, letter formation, phonics, vocabulary and reading comprehension. Through Writing Workshop our students discover the power of the written word and how to celebrate themselves as authors. Experiential investigation is the basis of our math program as students use a wide variety of manipulative tools to sort and solve mathematical challenges and problems. In addition to the classroom experiences, the children receive instruction in art, music, physical education, world language, and library. Our social studies program is continuously evolving to reflect the diverse interests of the students, families and Kindergarten teachers. Our goal is to encourage children to become resourceful in accessing information through technology and traditional means. Ultimately, the integrated curriculum enables Kindergartners to remain curious learners in an ever-changing world.
