After-School Programs at Brookwood

Creativity, learning and fun don't stop at dismissal time! Each day, Brookwood students participate in a host of enrichment classes, music lessons and after-school activities. We offer programs until 6pm daily.

Brookwood offers after-school enrichment classes in the fall, winter and spring. Classes for the spring of 2008 are posted below, along with a registration form.

Music Opportunities -- we have a vibrant after-school private music lesson program in which over one-third of our current student body participates. Students are currently taking lessons for voice, piano, strings, band instruments, guitar and drums. “Often many of Brookwood students begin lessons at a very young age and by Middle School are ready for a more challenging musical ensemble experience,” comments Performing Arts Director Debbie Gantt. Based on student interest, five new musical ensembles were formed at the beginning this year. In addition to the Brookwood Concert Band, for Grades 3 - 8, there are contemporary bands this year including a Jazz band, Middle School Combo, seventh grade girl combo, and two seventh grade boy combos. Students interested in playing in an ensemble should contact Mrs. Gantt over the summer or at the beginning of the school year as that is when groups are organized. If a student expresses interest during the school year, Mrs. Gantt will try to recruit other interested students and start a new combo. We are often treated to student performances at School Meeting at 10:00 on Thursdays. Bravo!

REACH (Recreation, Enrichment and Arts for Children) is our daily after-school program. Age-appropriate, structured activities include art room or other program area projects, indoor/outdoor physical activity, reading and games. Our Lower School program runs from dismissal - 4:00 with extended coverage until 6:00 p.m. Older students join their younger counterparts at 4:00 for snack, activities and structured homework time.

Contact Jen Cunningham Butler at 978-526-4500 X6244 for more information about after-school programs.
