On Monday, March 1st, Doug Fodeman will provide all parents of students in Grades 5-8 an opportunity to learn about the world of Facebook.  This program is essential for parents of students who currently have a Facebook account and for those who do not.  Statistics tell us the vast majority of current ninth grade students use Facebook regularly.  We estimate that 60-70% of our current eighth graders have a Facebook account.

Here are some of the topics that will be covered on March 1st:

•    What are the realities for harassment and bullying through Facebook?
•    Why is it difficult for younger teens to make healthy or appropriate choices and decisions when using Facebook?
•    What are their risks and the impact in their lives?
•    What do I need to understand to make an informed decision about my child's use of Facebook?
•    What it is like to log into Facebook?
•    Learn why Facebook really isn't private and learn who's looking.
•    Learn about software to help you control or limit your child's use of Facebook.
