In most schools, the existing model for lab-centered computing has been essentially unchanged for twenty years. Since that time, both technology and the way people use technology has changed significantly. Increasingly, technology is becoming more flexible in the "how" and "where" it can be used, as well as being smaller and more portable. And of course, technology is becoming more powerful. Brookwood created a space designed to promote colaboration and creative interaction - it is called the Idea Lab.
The Idea Lab is a large room where every wall is a writeable surface using erasable markers. There are movable walls, chairs and tables for a flexible space. Along with wireless projection, printing, and twenty iPads, the Idea Lab can become multiple film studios, group teaching spaces, or another perfect space for project-based learning.
