The Eleanor M. DiCroce Library
The 12,000 volume Eleanor M. DiCroce Library supports the academic program by providing a wide range of print and electronic resources and information. In the library, the students explore subjects that interest them beyond curricular expectations. Students find support for thinking critically about the resources they read, hear, and view. They develop information literacy skills by learning to locate, analyze, evaluate, and communicate ideas and information. Above all, the library nurtures curiosity and imagination through quality fiction and nonfiction and by emphasizing a life-long love of reading.
The library reference section includes 18 eMac computers where students can access the automated card catalog, the internet and the library website which includes databases such as World Book online, BigChalk eLibrary, Grolier Online, InfoTrac, Culturegrams, and NewsBank.
The Shlopak Family Lower School Library, with its comfortable story corner, is a designated space for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Three students. Other library resources include the Bennett H. Stayman professional collection for parents and faculty, the Dan & Susan Wise Family collection supporting poetry and traditional literature, and the Cotreau Family collection which enhances the library's social studies materials.
Children in Pre-K through Grade Five attend scheduled library classes. All students have the option of using the library on a flexible schedule. The library is available for class use, small group discussions, group research projects and visiting speakers. It hosts two book fairs for the students and two for the parents and faculty.
