Brookwood Resources

Technology Center

Brookwood strongly supports the use of technological resources in its continuing commitment to children. We at Brookwood believe the art of teaching and the faculty's curriculum direct the most appropriate use of technology to meet the needs of our students.

The school's multimedia computer labs are equipped with forty computers, LC projectors for teaching purposes as well as award-winning software, digital cameras and scanners. The PC Lab is outfitted with MIDI interface to piano keyboards to support our music program, while the Mac Computer Lab contains several graphic stations for creating graphic and video projects.

Supervised Internet access is available on more than 230 computers throughout the School's classrooms and labs via our T1 direct line. The Eleanor M. DiCroce Library houses an eighteen-computer reference area, online library card catalog, as well as Internet access to more than 25 local town library card catalogs. The Science Gym is equipped with ten computers, robotics and interactive whiteboard technology. Additionally our multimedia World Language computer lab of fifteen computers supports our World Language program. Students and teachers use digital video, sound editing software, multimedia videos and world language websites in their efforts to master new languages. Nearly every Brookwood classroom contains one to nine computers, depending upon the teacher's needs. Brookwood employs wireless technology and portable cart containing 18 laptops to bring a classroom set of computers to any teacher in the Lower, Middle and Upper School. Brookwood's website continues to grow, supporting our students, faculty and parents in addition to providing information to visitors. Brookwood's Intranet is used to support the curriculum of Middle and Upper School classes.

The use of technology as a learning tool can make a measurable difference in student achievement, attitudes, and interaction with teachers and other students. We believe that it is in the best interests of our children that we give them the skills to use computer technology, the experiences so they will not fear it, and the opportunity to excel using the strengths that this technology will bring.
