Volunteers needed to help withannual PA Auction & Party
We are off to the Races! On Saturday, May 6, the Town Square will feature a live stream of the Kentucky Derby and then Liston Commons will be alive with the sounds of DJ Vince Allo. Look for an invitation in your mailbox after March break.
We are seeking auction items from big to small and everything in between. Now is the time, and we need YOU! The success of the auction depends upon the generosity of our parents, friends and community business partners. Not sure what to donate? No idea is too big or too small. Vacation homes to event tickets, party packages to homemade pies, get your creative juices flowing and/or ask your favorite business for a donation.
Or, consider having your business become an official Auction Sponsor, with great website and event visibility. Click for a Donation Form.
If you are interested in learning more and how you can volunteer to help, please email Alison Harden with ideas and questions at email@example.com. The more people that can get involved and help out, the better! Thank you in advance.
Mrs. Geraty and a friend stop to admire the sketches on the 30 Drawings in 30 Days bulletin board. Take a look and add a drawing yourself!

Join Laura Caron on February 22
Get out of the cold, and join Head of School Laura Caron on Wednesday, February 22 at 7:30 a.m. in the Liston Commons for warm Coffee & Conversation. This meeting will begin an hour earlier in hopes that working parents are able to stop by before heading off, with early birds childcare coverage at no charge.
As before, we'll begin this casual gathering with time for mingling, followed by a conversation on issues of importance to the group. Thoughts, reflections, questions? We look forward to hearing what's on your mind and how we can enhance the Brookwood experience for all community members!
30 Drawings in 30 Days challenge continues
We are starting our second week of our drawing challenge, which runs through March 4. It might be fun to sit down with your child (or children) and draw together -- and maybe add in a few cups of hot cocoa. Enjoy some quality time imagining, slowing down and creating together.
Here are a few ideas:
Show your little one how to draw something or have them show you how to draw something;
Do a sketch of the ultimate tree house;
Design a three tiered birthday cake for your pet;
Create a stylish spacesuit for your first trip to Mars
Two websites that are worth checking out are: http://craftwhack.com/20-drawing-ideas-kids/ and https://dannygregorysblog.com/books/art-before-breakfast/
And here are two books that may offer inspiration: Tangle Art and Drawing Games for Kids by Jeanette Nyberg and Art Before Breakfast by Danny Gregory (the book that inspired the 30 Day challenge).
Please remember to add a sketch to the 30 Drawings in 30 Days bulletin board outside if the Faculty /Staff room.

Lower and Middle School Parent-Teacher conferences Feb. 28, March 1
Lower and Middle School Parent-Teacher conferences are coming up on Tuesday, February 28 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. and March 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
As in the fall, Parent-Teacher conference sign up will be through an online Google form. Doug Fodeman sent an email to all parents of Lower School and Middle School children on Thursday, February 9 with the Conference Sign-up link and instructions for using the form.
February 28 is an early release day with a noon dismissal for all students in Lower and Middle School. Wednesday, March 1 is a normal school day for students even though Parent-Teacher conferences take place this day.
Plan ahead for Conference Day half day
In anticipation of the February 28 Parent-Teacher Conference half day, Brookwood will offer special programming for children in grades PreK-5 (those being released early that day).
Anyone interested in having a child attend these specialty programs can learn more about them and register at Half day Programming. All students planning to attend the programs, which will run from noon to 3:00 p.m. on February 28, must be pre-registered by February 24 at 5:00 p.m.
There is a small fee associated with each of these programs that will be billed through your Brookwood account. There is also regular PreK/K after-school, REACH, Homework Club coverage available from 3:00-6:00 p.m. (regular rates apply) that day.
Note: There will be free drop-in coverage available in the library for those families who want/need coverage for their child/ren during their actual conference time. No early sign-up is necessary, just be sure to sign your child in and out.
Email Justin Zappia for more information.
(Please be aware that March 1 is a regular full day of school for students despite the fact that it is also a Parent-Teacher Conference Day.)
March Break Camp at Brookwood!
Katie Ober and Erin Herzeelle are thrilled to lead some exciting programming for interested Brookwood students in grades PreK-5 during the first week of March Break (March 13-17). Please visit March Break Camp to find out what's happening on campus and how to officially register. It's important to sign-up as soon as possible so we can begin to plan accordingly for all the students who will join us at Brookwood. The registration deadline is Friday, March 3. Questions can be directed to Justin Zappia at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Summer at Brookwood 2017
It's official . . . Summer at Brookwood 2017 is now accepting registrations. Please visit the Brookwood website to learn about the amazing full- and half-day specialty camps we are offering this summer to students in rising PreK through Grade 9. In addition, we will offer new single day trip adventures throughout the summer months! Descriptions of all the camps and trips as well as related logistical information can be found on the Summer Camps page on the web.
Register by using the "Register Now" button on the Brookwood website. We are confident these are the most unique camps on all of the North Shore, so don't miss an opportunity to get your child signed-up. Space is limited, plus there's an early registration discount until February 20 on most camps -- 10% off.
