Upper School Renovation
When Brookwood was established in 1956, founders transformed a carriage house into classrooms. The portion of the building housing the Upper School (Grades 6 – 8) has undergone improvements over the years, with the most recent project breaking ground in June. A once narrow hallway is being expanded; lighting and heating systems are being updated; and spacious wooden lockers are replacing coat hooks and cubbies so students will keep better track of their books and sports equipment. All this while maintaining the integrity of the period architecture. Says Upper School coordinator Evan Diamond, “The end result is greatly improved teaching and living space in the Upper School -- a win-win for teachers and students.” Many thanks to the group of donors and to the Parents’ Association for making this project possible.
