Affordability
Research shows that quality early childhood and elementary education plays a critical role in developing a strong foundation for a child’s educational future. At Brookwood, we strive to meet financial gaps in order to make the Brookwood experience accessible to all those interested in a chance to grow and thrive in our community.
Our Tuition Assistance Philosophy
Brookwood School has a strong commitment to need-based tuition assistance in order to support access and affordability. Brookwood’s tuition assistance program supports children in Kindergarten through Grade 8 with an annual budget of approximately $1.7 million and 26% of our student body receiving some level of tuition assistance. These need-based grants range from 5%-90% of Brookwood’s annual tuition.
Brookwood encourages families with limited financial resources to apply for assistance, based upon the assumption that the primary obligation for financing a student’s education will rest with the family. Brookwood uses the Clarity Application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts.
All information received by the Tuition Assistance Committee is held in the strictest confidence. There is no general knowledge shared as to which students are recipients of tuition assistance. For more information, please reach out to Letitia Howland, Director of Finance and Operations.

Tuition Assistance FAQs
The Admissions Committee meets to review all completed applications to determine which students are qualified for our program. The Tuition Assistance Committee then meets to determine which candidates the school is able to offer tuition assistance to. Each year, we have more families who qualify for need-based aid than can be funded. Admissions is offered to those students who the school is able to offer an award to; in the case that a student is admissible but the school cannot provide funding, the student is placed on an admissions waitlist.
Yes, because family finances can change, families must apply for tuition assistance each year. Unless there is a significant change in a family’s financial situation, the Tuition Assistance Committee strives to award a level similar to the previous year’s grant.
