Head of School's Letter - May 8 - Grandparents' Day

Weekly News

Dear Parents,

One of the great joys of being part of a school like Brookwood is witnessing the connections that span generations. This Friday, we look forward to welcoming grandparents and special friends to campus—an annual tradition that never fails to bring delight, pride, and more than a few misty eyes. There is something uniquely heartwarming about seeing our students share their school lives with the people who’ve cheered them on from the very beginning.

While the morning will be filled with classroom visits, student performances, and guided tours led by our proudest hosts (your children!), what makes the day truly special is the sense of community it evokes. Our halls echo with stories, memories, and love—this day is a celebration not only of learning, but of the relationships that shape who our students are becoming.

Below, you’ll find details about the schedule and logistics for the day. This information has already been shared directly with registered guests, but we’re including it here so you’re aware of the flow of the morning, especially since many parents play a key role in helping coordinate the visit.

We do ask, with appreciation, that parents honor the unique spirit of the event by leaving the spotlight to our students and their guests. Holding space for these intergenerational moments is part of what makes the day feel so magical.

Thank you for helping make it possible. We can’t wait to see the joy on our students’ faces this Friday—and to watch as their guests experience a little of the Brookwood magic for themselves.

Warmly,

Jon

Manchester, MA 01944

Schedule
8:00 a.m. – Students arrive and proceed to homerooms as usual.
8:30 a.m. – Registration opens in the front lobby
We kindly ask that guests not arrive before 8:30, as this allows our students to settle into their classrooms without disruption. Upon registering, guests will receive a folder with their student’s schedule for the day. Brookwood staff and volunteers will be available to help escort them to the appropriate locations.

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Welcome remarks, Classroom visits, and Special assembly
12:00 p.m. – Dismissal for all students
Grandparents and special friends may pick up students in their homerooms following the assembly. If your child is not leaving with their guest, standard dismissal procedures will apply.

Parking and Transportation
Several handicap-accessible spaces will be available at both the Upper and Lower School entrances. Additional parking will be open in the courtyard and both school lots. Event parking tends to be limited, so if possible, we encourage guests to be dropped off between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. A Brookwood shuttle will also run loops during that time to assist those parking farther away.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Matt Drake, Director of Development, at 978-526-4500 x6268.
