As the school year winds down, and Steep Days are behind us, several beloved Upper School traditions and milestone events are just around the corner. We look forward to celebrating the creativity, growth, and accomplishments of our students in the weeks ahead.
Grade 8 Mock Trials || Tuesday, May 26
As part of their History classes, eighth graders have been preparing and presenting mock trials. One section will perform on Monday, with the second trial taking place on Tuesday. In keeping with tradition, parents are invited to serve as jurors — (though parents may not serve on the jury for their child’s section).
Capstone Art Show & Coffee House || Wednesday, June 3
The Upper School community will gather for several special year-end events on Wednesday, June 3.
- Capstone Art Projects will be displayed in the lobby from 4:00–5:00 p.m. Families are invited to view the eighth graders’ final capstone art and changemaking projects before Coffee House.
- Upper School Coffee House will be held from 3:00–4:00 p.m. Coffee House offers students one final opportunity to perform informally on the Brookwood stage in front of the Upper School community and eighth grade parents.
Grade 5 Trip to PEM || Thursday, June 4
Fifth graders will travel to the Peabody Essex Museum for a special year-end experience.
Grade 6 Sleepover || Thursday, June 4
A favorite Upper School tradition returns as sixth graders stay after dismissal for an evening of games, a cookout, and the highly anticipated nighttime hide-and-seek game throughout the school. Students will then set up sleeping bags in the Upper School classrooms before enjoying breakfast together the next morning ahead of Beach Day.
Beach Day || Friday, June 5
Upper School students will head to local beaches for a fun final Friday of the school year. Fifth and sixth graders will visit West Beach, while seventh and eighth graders will travel to Singing Beach. Students should bring sunscreen, a towel, a bathing suit, and a tee shirt, sun shirt, or rash guard. Depending on the weather, a sweatshirt may also be helpful. Bag lunches will be provided by the school.
