At this time of year, it’s customary for schools to share news of departures—and though goodbyes are a natural part of school life, each one carries a unique imprint. This spring, we honor a number of Brookwood colleagues whose contributions have shaped the life of our school. Earlier this year, we shared that Assistant Head of School Stacey Wright will be relocating to Seattle with her family. Stacey has made a lasting impact at Brookwood through her leadership, warmth, and wisdom, and we’ll miss her deeply. We also celebrate the upcoming retirement of Lisa Johnson, a beloved fifth grade teacher whose tenure at Brookwood spans decades and whose influence on generations of students is immeasurable. Her guidance, deep care, and commitment to her students have been foundational to the Brookwood experience.
We also share our gratitude and warm wishes with Khadijah Campbell, who will be leaving Brookwood at the end of this year. Over the past four years, Khadijah has brought energy, generosity, and integrity to every facet of school life—from leading our Auxiliary Programs during the pandemic to serving as Dean of Students’ Well-Being. Known for her direct and powerful connections with students, her infectious laugh, and her unyielding commitment to what’s best for children, Khadijah has left a lasting legacy. As she returns to Philadelphia to be closer to family and to explore new professional directions, we send her off with deep thanks—and a wish for many joyful homecomings (and maybe a few Eagles wins, unless they’re playing the Patriots!).
We also celebrate Lauren Hutchinson, who will be retiring after four years of teaching at Brookwood. First as a fifth grade teacher and then in her most recent role in third grade, Lauren has brought a spirit of calm, kindness, and steady joy to her classroom. She is a teacher who leads with care and consistency, offering her students a dependable and loving presence each day. As she looks forward to more time with her grandchildren—wintering in Florida and summering here on the North Shore—Lauren leaves behind a legacy of thoughtfulness and grace. Her students, families, and colleagues are better for having known her.
We are also grateful to Sydney Roe, who will be leaving Brookwood at the end of this school year after serving as a joyful and steady presence on our kindergarten team. Since joining us in August, Sydney has brought warmth, reliability, and care to our youngest learners. Her ability to support daily routines with patience and create a nurturing environment has left a lasting impact on children, families, and faculty alike. While we will miss her kind heart and calm energy, we are excited for the opportunities that lie ahead and know she will continue to uplift every community she’s part of.
We are so thankful to Stacey, Lisa, Khadijah, Lauren, and Sydney for the time, care, and heart they’ve poured into Brookwood. Their contributions have helped shape the spirit of our school, and their next chapters are richly earned. Please join us in thanking and celebrating each of them in the weeks ahead.
