Even as the weather cools, ticks remain active in our area. Because outdoor learning and playing are a daily part of life at Brookwood, we conduct regular tick checks at school as needed; however, we kindly ask families to also do a quick check at home as an added precaution.
What you can do at home
After outdoor time, especially on school days:
- Do a quick head-to-toe check (hairline, behind ears, under arms, waistbands, backs of knees, and sock lines)
- Running outer layer clothing through a short cycle in a dryer on high heat can also reduce risk
If you have any questions or need guidance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Nurse Nichole Edwards.
