Dear Families,
In these final days before Winter Break, school life begins to feel different. Children move through the halls with a little more lightness. Time seems to loosen its grip. There is a particular feeling in the air this time of year as children begin to turn their attention toward home, toward rest, toward the small rituals that anchor them.
Childhood is shaped as much by these pauses as by the busy days in between. Time slows. Mornings stretch. Ordinary moments take on a kind of quiet magic. A walk becomes an adventure. A shared meal becomes a memory. Being together, unhurried and attentive, becomes enough.
This matters more than we sometimes realize. The world our children are growing up in is not always gentle or predictable, even when we do our best to shield them. What steadies them are the constants: people who show up, places that feel safe, and moments of wonder that remind them the world can still be good, curious, and kind.
Over the break, my hope is that our students have time to be exactly who they are. To play, to imagine, to notice small wonders. To be bored and then inventive. To feel the warmth of family and the reassurance that comes from being known and loved.
When we return in the new year, we will do so refreshed and ready once again for the work of learning and growing. Until then, I wish you time that feels unhurried, moments that feel meaningful, and a Winter Break that lingers in the best way.
Warmly,
Jon
