Head of School's Letter - The 8th Grade Play & Spring Break

Dear Families,

As we close out the week, and head into Spring Break tomorrow, we find ourselves greeted by yet another round of winter weather. In many ways, it feels like a fitting bookend to the past couple of months, which have kept our community nimble with snow days, shifting schedules, and more than a little time spent watching the forecast. I am grateful, as always, for the flexibility and good humor of our families and employees in navigating it all together.

Even as winter has lingered outside, there has been plenty of warmth and energy inside the School Meeting House this week as we celebrated the performances of our 8th Grade play. Over three memorable evenings, our students brought High School Musical: The Musical: The Series: The Musical to life with remarkable spirit and dedication. The result was a joyful and lively production that reminded us how much our students grow during their time in the Upper School.

What made this year’s production especially meaningful was watching our students grow together through the rehearsal process. Over the past several months, the cast and crew developed a strong sense of ensemble. They encouraged one another, refined their performances, and gradually built the confidence that was so evident on stage this week. By the time the lights came up each evening, it was clear that the experience had become something more than a performance; it was a shared accomplishment that our students carried with pride.

Productions like this are always a community effort. I am deeply grateful to the many parents who gave their time, creativity, and energy behind the scenes. Your support helps create experiences our students will remember for years to come. My thanks as well to Andrew Luman, Sid Adams, Allison Case, and our wonderful Performing Arts team for their thoughtful leadership and steady guidance throughout the process.

With that joyful milestone behind us, we now turn toward a well-earned Spring Break. I hope the coming days offer everyone an opportunity to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends.

I look forward to welcoming our students back later in March for the final stretch of the school year. The months ahead are always full of meaningful moments, and I cannot wait to share them with you.

Wishing you all a wonderful Spring Break.

Warmly,
Jon
